About
Launched in 2020, the TATA AIG Scholarship is a CSR initiative by TATA AIG in partnership with Avanti Fellows. It aims to support girl students from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds who wish to pursue undergraduate studies in Engineering or Medicine.The support is “comprehensive,” including mentorship, career guidance, and financial aid for the duration of the UG program. The scholarship provides full support for tuition fees, living expenses, academic materials, plus a one-time gift of a laptop or tablet. Over 300 scholars across 15 states/UTs have benefitted.
Benefits
⦁ Financial support per year (up to ~ INR 1,10,000 in many past cycles)

Eligibility Criteria
⦁ Must be female / girl student.
⦁ Should belong to any of these categories: SC / ST / Gen-EWS / PwD
⦁ Must have passed Class 12 from JNV, KV or state government school.
⦁ Must have cleared JEE (Mains / Advanced) or NEET exam.
⦁ Must have secured (or be able to secure) admission in one of the top 200 Engineering colleges (NIRF ranking) or in a Government Medical College (MBBS).
⦁ Only 1st year, undergraduate students are eligible (i.e. not 2nd year or beyond)
⦁ Candidates must be from eligible states/UTs. The states listed include: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and also Maharashtra in some recent cycles.

Selection Process
⦁ Registration / application through the official portal.
⦁ Screening of applications based on eligibility, completeness.
⦁ Shortlisting of candidates.
⦁ Interview (usually online / video) for shortlisted candidates.
⦁ Final evaluation and verification (document verification, background checks) before awarding.
Announcement / award: selected scholars notified, funds disbursed, laptop / tablet gift issued.
