Short‑term research grant for Indian PhD students in Humanities & Social Sciences, registered at Indian universities, to undertake up to 3‑month visits abroad for archival research, expert consultations, or facility access.

Benefits:
- Travel allowance: up to USD 1,000 (reimbursable on actuals).
- Maintenance stipend: up to USD 2,000/month for max 3 months.
- Research materials: up to USD 500 for books, copies, etc.
- Health allowance: up to USD 500.
- All materials collected become the candidate’s institutional property, carry an acknowledgement note.
- Visit must be carried out within 9 months of award.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must hold Indian passport and reside in India.
- Born on or after 1 Jan 1990.
- Registered PhD candidate in India for 2–3 years at application time.
- First‑class Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
- PhD must be in Humanities & Social Sciences only.
- Proof of positive communication with proposed experts or institutions abroad.
- Can’t apply to IRTG and King’s India Institute Studentship in the same year.
Documents Required:
- Completed application form via official portal.
- Writing sample: 3,000–5,000 words (e.g. thesis draft or research proposal).
- Supervisor’s endorsement letter.
- Two additional references.
- Proof of communication with overseas experts/institution.
- Passport copy (first & last page).
Selection Process:
- Shortlisting based on desk review of written application.
- Online interview with expert panel (via Zoom or similar).
- Shortlisted candidates informed by last week of September 2025.
- Final interviews held in early October 2025.
