The ADB–Japan Scholarship Program, financed by the Government of Japan and managed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), offers scholarships per year for studies in development-related fields including economics, business & management, science & technology. Scholars are expected to contribute to the economic and social development of their home countries after graduation.
Benefits :
The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, including:
1.Full tuition fee coverage.
2.Monthly subsistence allowance (including housing).
3.Book and instructional materials allowance.
4.Medical and accident insurance.
5.Travel expenses (round-trip airfare).
6.Special research/thesis grant in some cases.

Eligibility Criteria :
To be eligible for ADB-JSP:
1.Citizenship: Must be a national of an ADB borrowing member country (also eligible under Japan’s Official Development Assistance criteria). 2.Admission: Must have secured admission to a master’s degree program at a designated participating institution.
3.Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with superior academic performance.
4.Work Experience: At least 2 years of full-time professional work experience after graduation.
5.Language Skills: Proficiency in written and oral English.
6.Health: Must be in good health.
7.Return Requirement: Agree to return to and work in home country for at least two years after studies.
8.Age & Restrictions: Typically not older than 35 years at application (exceptions for senior officials to 45 in some cases).
9.Not eligible if currently enrolled in another graduate program.
10.Not eligible if living/working outside home country.
11.Not eligible if staff/relatives of ADB management or designated institution staff.
Selection Process :
The typical selection process is as follows:
Request for information and application forms from your choice of a partner institution.
Complete and send required application documents to the partner institution, which include the ADB-Japan Scholarship Program information sheet.
Receive evaluation results from partner institution following its assessment and shortlisting of applicants and final selection of scholars by ADB, based on the selection criteria applied by the Japanese executive director.
