NCPA Citi Scholarship for Young Musicians 2026–28

About

A scholarship programme to support advanced training in Hindustani music for young musicians in vocal styles (khayal and dhrupad) and melody instruments (flute, harmonium, violin, sitar, sarod, etc.). The scholarship provides financial support while recipients pursue advanced training and development.

Benefits

1.Financial Support: ₹10,000 per month

2.Duration: 2 years (April 2026 – March 2028)

(This enables scholars to focus on music training, practice, and performance development.)

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply:

1.Age Limits (as on 1 March 2026):

• Khayal & Melody Instruments: 18–30 years

• Dhrupad: 18–35 years

2. Only Indian citizens.

3. Applicants must not be beneficiaries of another music scholarship/grant during April 2026–March 2028.

4. Full-time/part-time working professionals are not eligible.

5. Professional musicians, including those with an ‘A’ grade from All India Radio, are not eligible.

Documents Required

Instead of formal documents, applicants must prepare a detailed bio-data (which is the application). It should include:

Candidate’s name

1.Date of birth

2.Residential address

3.Contact number & alternate contact

4.Email ID

5.Educational/professional qualifications

6.Details of musical training (teachers/gurus and years of training)

7.Achievements, prizes, scholarships, performances

8.Other relevant musical experience or noteworthy details

Important:

Do not send scanned certificates, audio files, or video clips at this stage — the bio-data is sufficient.

Application Process

1.There is no separate application form — the bio-data serves as the application.

2.Submit the bio-data by email only to: indianmusicscholarships@ncpamumbai.com

3.State clearly the category (khayal, dhrupad, or specific instrument) you’re applying for in the email.

4.Applications via courier or post will not be accepted.

Selection Process

1.Applications will be reviewed by the NCPA Selection Committee.

2.Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email or phone.

3.Auditions will be conducted in February 2026, based on video recordings submitted by shortlisted applicants.

4.The decision of the Selection Committee is final.
