About Fellowship

The Sharad Pawar Inspire Literary Fellowship, established by the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, Mumbai, is designed to discover and encourage talented young Marathi writers up to the age of 35. The program’s primary objective is to nurture creative writing talent and safeguard the rich heritage of the Marathi language. Selected fellows are provided with financial assistance, professional mentorship, and publishing opportunities to help bring their literary ideas to fruition.

Fellowship Benefits

  • Financial stipend of up to Rs. 50,000 for creative writing work.
  • Support of up to Rs. 50,000 for additional expenses, including travel and accommodation for orientation and interactive sessions.
  • Honorarium and travel expense coverage for the appointed mentors.
  • Financial assistance for publishing the final approved manuscript in book form.
  • Structured mentorship from experienced literary experts to refine writing skills.
  • Opportunities to attend guidance sessions and engage in discussions with contemporary Marathi writers.

Fellowship Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to any Marathi-speaking young writer (male or female) who wishes to write or translate an independent book in the specified categories.
  • Must be 35 years of age or younger as of August 12, 2026.
  • The applicant must write independently and newly on the chosen topic; works previously submitted for a degree or other purposes are ineligible.

Required Documents

  • Accurately filled online Google Form via the official website.
  • Detailed personal profile (Name, Address, Contact details, School, College, Profession/Business).
  • A short write-up (200-300 words) about favorite authors or at least three books and writers that have influenced the applicant’s life.
  • A detailed written statement explaining how this fellowship will assist with their current or planned literary project.
  • A PDF containing a draft sample of the proposed writing (minimum 2,000 words) and a 500-word brief outline/format of the project based on the chosen category (Novel/Story, Drama, Non-fiction, or Science Literature).
